Property Tax

Property taxes are due October 31st, or on the last Friday of the month if October 31st falls on a weekend.

Payments are accepted in Canadian dollars only. Payments are accepted in cash, by cheque or through Vanguard Credit Union’s online payment program.

PROVINCIAL HOME OWNER CREDIT

Municipal residents are eligible for a provincial home owner credit of your residential property taxes if this is your primary residence (and your name appears on the property title). You must pay the first $250 of residential taxes, your tax credit will come in effect for the next $700 in taxes.

MUNICIPAL MILL RATE

Rural 20.856     (At large 11.712, Rural 9.144)

Urban 28.423    (At large 11.712, Urban 16.711)

CALCULATION OF MUNICIPAL TAXES

Municipal property taxes are calculated the following way:

Assessed value of your Residence x 45% divided by 1,000 x the mills as above

Assessed value of your Farmland x 26% divided by 1,000 x the mills as above

Assessed value of Other or Commercial Property x 65% divided by 1,000 x the mills as above
